Minority Housestaff Association of UPMC
MHSA History
The Minority Housestaff Association of UPMC (MHSA) was revitalized in the fall of 2012 by Dr. Angela Elam and Dr. Faith Rowland to provide support to underrepresented minority residents and fellows at UPMC during their training. They realized that many of these residents had been trained outside Pittsburgh so were unaware of its hidden treasures or of each other.

Our mission: To provide a framework for underrepresented ethnic minority housestaff to develop professional and social connections that will enhance their clinical training experience and provide great benefit to the hospital system and community at large.

Our purpose: To connect, support and engage underrepresented ethnic minority housestaff at UPMC.

MHSA is supported by numerous faculty and departments at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh.
